Philhellenes Greek Dancers Home Page

The Philhellenes are one of England's foremost Greek performance dance groups. Since our formation in 1991 we have dedicated ourselves to preserving the spirit and authenticity of Greek dances and to making them accessible to a wider audience in Britain and across the world.

Our repertoire includes dances from the Greek mainland, the islands, Cyprus and former Greek areas of Asia Minor. We have performed at the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican Centre and the British Museum in London, at numerous cultural events across the UK and at dance festivals in Greece and Italy, as well as appearances on British television.

We have an extensive collection of stunning traditional costumes covering all areas of the Greek world. These are either genuine antiques or exact copies, thoroughly researched and painstakingly re-created by our costume experts. All are complemented by authentic pieces of jewellery and accessories.

We are very proud of our links with London's Greek schools. By helping to develop the children's interest in their cultural heritage, we hope to encourage them to become the next generation of Greek folk dancers.
